Post 1 - Dashboards

 
What is a Dashboard?

A dashboard is a tool that is used to combine and arrange numbers, referred to as metrics and information, referred to as attributes. For example in a dashboard that has dataset from a movie theater, we would consider the names of movies they show there to be attributes and the amount of ticket sales for each movie to be metrics. These metrics and attributes are then organized in a graphical layout.

What is the Role of Dashboards in Business Intelligence?

In a business intelligence program it allows the user to view their dashboard in a unique way by using visualizations such as a variety of graphs. This makes it easier for the user to analyze the metrics and therefore make decisions based on the results.


How can Dashboards Help with Big Data?

On a day to day basis organizations have to handle an increasing amount of data, such as sales and inventory and can become complex to analyze. Dashboards help organize all of the metrics and attributes into a simplified forms like rows and columns so individuals in the organization can understand the information clearly. In a dashboard you can also filter the information by ranking it from highest to lowest and vice versa. You can also rank by highest or lowest percent. All of these filters help to narrow the data to make findings much easier.


How are Dashboards Useful in a Business?

Dashboards are useful in a business because they are able to make data easy to analyze and it allows the organization to understand and see their company in different persepectives. Therefore organizations are able to make improvements in  certain areas. Therefore it helps in creating a more effective and efficient business.

What Does our Dataset Represent? 

The enterprise our dataset represents is a Casino. The activity that our dataset displays is the use of customers gambling on slot machines.

  5. What are the top 20 games with the lowest slot win? (Metrics=Slot win, Attributes= Type of Slot Machine game)
